Way Up in the Sky

... the little plane flies. Seriously, this plane is tiny. Thirty five people, including the two pilots and flight attendant. Derek and I are midflight from Atlanta to Flint via Cleveland. Right now, I think we're somewhere over Detroit. Operation Sibling Vacation was a success. For the next time we are thinking San Diego or a couple other ideas. The next trip will have to wait about 3-4 years, but I'm looking forward to it. Jenn and I will be taking a mini-trip to NYC in between my visit to Boston and my flight to the DR. There are so many places I want to see. After hearing so many accents this weekend, I am itching to travel. I am excited for everything I will do in the next three months, but it's just the beginning. I will be a traveler for the rest of my life. Well, we're about to land. Look for a more detailed blog in the next couple days.

La Salud!

Okay, soooooo I have 15 minutes of spare time before I go home. This is going to be the quickest post I've ever done, but it is a much awaited update.

Here we go.....

My mother:

Had 3-4 procedures
Was in the hospital for 5 days
Had her gull bladder removed
Had gull stones in her liver (hence so many  procedures)
Is now home, fully recovered and back at work

That is a very delayed update, I apologize.

My father:

Also home
Was in the hospital for 9 days
Has been diagnosed with Stage III A or B Colo-rectal cancer (mostly rectal)
Cancer was found in one lymph node
Is getting a chemo port put in tomorrow
Will have 3 stages of 8 week treatment
  1. Once a week chemotherapy
  2. Three times per week chemo and radiation
  3. Once a week radiation (I think)
Is healing well, they usually wait 6 weeks to start treatment, but are able to start after only 5 weeks

So, I think that's all I know for now. As I said, I'm about to journey home and may be able to add more later. I will only be home for about seven hours though, because Derek and I are headed out to meet Jenn in Atlanta in the morning (my siblings for anyone who might not know). I don't have time for the story behind it right now (that I failed explain in Spanish), but will fill in the details later. It's officially been 15 minutes.

Adios!
